As specified in the Faculty Handbook, a flexible work arrangement (FWA) should be put in place when a regular-rank faculty member’s work schedule is modified for an extended period of time . As a clarification, FWAs only need to be filed when the overall work effort is being reduced and compensation is being affected. Retirement walk-down agreements typically fall under the category of a flexible work arrangement, but not always.
How to Apply
Faculty should contact their department chair or dean's office to confirm the proper process for requesting a flexible work agreement. A memorandum of understanding between the faculty member and the department chair, if applicable, or dean of the school shall be created. Once approved by the dean and the Provost , the dFac user should enter the request into dFac.
As of April 2024, the process for approving retirement agreements has changed. Please reference the "retirement MOUs" section of the Required Documentation page.
