Hiring units are required to advertise their vacant faculty positions in Academic Jobs Online (AJO). The School of Law, School of Nursing, and the School of Medicine Clinical Science department are excluded from this requirement.
The search committee chair must work together with the unit's AJO manager to ensure that job advertisement is correctly posted in AJO. All positions must be posted publicly at Duke for a minimum of seven calendar days. The unit's AJO manager can assist with the required seven-day posting. The position should be posted before any advertising or interviewing begins.
The search committee may contact colleagues at other universities to identify possible candidates, contact promising candidates directly for expressions of interest and, when appropriate, interview potential candidates at professional meetings.
